Performance 2018

Sleeping Beauty Act 1 plus Classical and Contemporary variations

A brilliant performance by Ballet First students saw Act 1 of Sleeping Beauty performed at the Bishops Stortford Rhodes Arts Complex. The technically demanding lead role of Aurora was danced with confidence, elegance and style by Yasmin Chaschina; Wicked Carabosse disturbed the palace festivities of Aurora’s 16th Birthday with her accompanying evil Bats, danced by the young Primary ballet students who fled onto the stage creating suitable havoc amongst the proceedings. All ended well with the Lilac Fairy danced by Senior Ballet student Lucie Norgate, who with elegance and assurance, cast her magic Spell.

The second half of the program saw the younger Primary Ballet students surpass themselves with their Butterfly dance, bringing cheers from the audience for their confidence and ability to hold their own on the big stage, whilst advanced students impressed with excerpts from the 4 Cygnets from Swan Lake and the 4 seasons Variations from Cinderella; the Prayer variation from Coppelia was an exceptional interpretation by vocational student Charlotte Coles (now at Ballet West, Scotland); Central Associate dancer Ollie Grant impressed with a contemporary variation and many more pieces danced by the younger students who displayed their talent and commitment to Ballet, enthralling the audience all round.
Once again, Ballet First students demonstrated their diversity, strong technical ability and creative interpretation in all. Well done!
