Performance 2016

Sleeping Beauty Prologue plus Classical and Contemporary variations

Our 2016 Performance was seen once again at the Rhodes Theatre in Bishops Stortford to a full house – all dancers of varying ages from 4 – 18 yrs excelled themselves with the Sleeping Beauty Prologue, a wonderful production with the dancers demonstrating their accomplished technique and performing skills, as the wicked witch Carabosse enters the Christening in the Royal Palace to disturb the proceedings. Advanced students danced challenging Fairy variations and ensemble pieces with panache and artistry; younger dancers excelled as fairy attendants and Carabosse ‘Bats’, enthralling the audience with their energy and acting skills until the Lilac Fairy intervenes to dispel the evil Carabosse spell.

The audience was enthralled by the production and relaxed into the second half of the programme to visual delight of the vibrant Swan Lake Tarantella with advanced students opening the second half; Coppelia ensemble pieces, imaginative ballets with students as young as 3 yrs. Performing on a real stage for the very first time, the challenging Nutcracker Mirlitons Pas de Quatre and a male variation from Giselle danced with bravado were amongst some of the second half programme of ballets.

Ballet First dancers excelled themselves in this show, demonstrating this is a School with high levels of technical ability, versatility and professional approach. Well done to all!
